Tufi has excellent diving conditions year-round, but the dry season (May to November) often offers the best visibility and weather for diving. I took this into consideration when finalising these travel dates.

2. Travel Logistics

• Flights: We need to book flights early, as options to Tufi are limited. Most international flights arrive in Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea. From there, you’ll take a domestic flight to Tufi, typically operated by Air Niugini.
• Baggage: Checked baggage allowances apply, especially if bringing your own dive gear. Some domestic flights have stricter weight limits.
• You will require a visitors visa for PNG, we can get this at the Airport
• Airport transfers to Tufi resort.

3. Accommodation in Tufi

• Tufi Dive Resort is the main choice for divers, offering an awesome dive package, we can arrange local excursions, and a cozy, authentic stay. Book as early as possible to secure the preferred room type.
• We have twin share double standard rooms, as basic- I have arranged a bonus FREE upgrade to Deluxe bungalow accommodation for the first people to book, along with daily laundry service and free canoe use at the house reef.
• I have also booked the Full Board meal package that includes all meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Snacks and alcohol are yours to arrange.

Here are some detailed tips that helped me to plan your scuba diving trip to Tufi, Papua New Guinea, for late 2025: I went to PNG in 2018 and TUFI was high on my list of places to visit and research. I found the people awesome, the diving was terrific and the accommodation quite comfortable with amazing views down the fjord and I slept extremely well on the comfy beds.

• Diving Conditions: Tufi offered excellent diving with vibrant reefs, WWII wrecks, and unique fjord environments. Visibility can reach up to 30 metres, and water temperatures range between 25°C and 30°C.
• Weather: The dry season (May to November) is the most popular time for diving, with calmer seas and better visibility.

2. Travel Arrangements

• International Flights are booked to Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea’s capital, with major airlines like Qantas, then local flights by Air Niugini.
• Domestic Travel: From Port Moresby, we take a domestic flight to Tufi. Air Niugini typically operates flights to this remote destination, but schedules can be limited.
• Transfers: I have arranged transfers from Tufi Airport to our accommodation in advance.

3. Accommodation

• Tufi, is the main accommodation in the area, that offers dive packages, local excursions, and stunning views. It is advisable to book early as it has limited capacity.
• We have an all-inclusive dive package that include meals, accommodations, and dives for convenience.

• Essentials: Reef-safe sunscreen, reusable water bottle, big bottle of mosquito repellent, and a lightweight rain jacket.
• Underwater Camera: Capture the marine life and stunning coral reefs.
• Clothing: Lightweight, breathable clothing, a hat, and comfortable shoes for land activities. Long sleeves for evenings
• Adapters: PNG uses Type I plugs, so bring a travel adapter if needed.
