Underwater carriages first came to notice during the Second World War when an underwater carriage was discovered by the Allies after a failed attempt to destroy Allied shipping. Today, underwater vehicles have many uses in Research, transport and fun activities. It is easy to forget they are the visitor and should, take care and consideration when using such vehicles.

What You Learn

There is one theory session with two dives using DPV's with your Pro-Dive Propulsion Vehicle Driver Specialty Instructor.
During this course you will learn the safe procedures of proper maintenance and operation as well as safe fun diving skills.

The Scuba Gear

You Use You use all the basic scuba gear.
There are many different types of underwater carriages and we explore to some extent, the history from World War II to today's modern units.

The Learning Materials You Need

Diver Propulsion Vehicle Driver is a convenient and fun way to explore the underwater world.
By reviewing the online session, you will learn the important do’s and don’ts of driving an underwater vehicle including: 
Course terminology, 
Etiquette 
Driving Safety
Procedures.

Your training starts by:   

Short online academic sessions

Reviewing reasons for using a DPV whilst diving

How important it is, to know your personal limits.

Your Total Diving System and specialised equipment for deep diving

During two dives with your instructor, you will go over:

Managing and planning procedures for DPV diving

DPV dive planning, buddy contact procedures and buoyancy control.

Managing your gas supply, dealing with navigation and safety considerations.

PREREQUISITES

To be a minimum of 15 years old.
All students under 18 years of age will be required to provide signed parent or guardian consent form.
Fit to Dive - Please take time to review the Dive Medical Requirements and Fitness to Dive information.  
Gear Hire - is available and includes one piece wetsuit, buoyancy vest, regulator with dive computer, tanks and weights. 
Snorkelling gear is not included.
What you need to bring - Sunscreen, swimmers and towel, Log book.

PRACTICAL COURSE CONTENT

SSI On-line e-learning academic presentations, quizzes, exam.
(must be completed before any in water training commences).
Minimum of two open water training dives required.

Equipment Provided

Tanks, weight belt and/or weights are included in course cost. 
Nitrox Fills are included, if you are also completing the Enriched Air, Nitrox Course in conjunction

CERTIFICATION

1. All open water skills must be acknowledged and accepted on-line.
2. ProDive Central Coast has confirmed certification on-line, through Scuba Schools International web site.
3. You will receive your Online Digital card- (Plastic "C" card is also available- Fee applies)
4. Your DPV driver certification counts toward the PRO DIVE ScubaMaster Diver rating.
